Goa, Jan. 9 -- An inspection was carried out by health officials and other local authorities at Gaudewadda, Morjim beach, following complaints that sewage water was allegedly being discharged into the sea. Morjim Sarpanch Vilas Morje stated that the water seen in the trench was most likely seawater retained after a high tide and not untreated sewage. He said sanitary inspectors were present during the inspection and added that water testing would be conducted if required. Clarifying responsibility, the sarpanch said that the dredging and the sewage trench fall under the jurisdiction of the Tourism Department and not the village panchayat.
