Goa, Nov. 6 -- The Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) has issued a show-cause notice to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) for failing to clear outstanding lease rent amounting to 8.5 crore. Chief Officer Siddhivinayak Naik said that despite several reminders and meetings between July and September 2025, IOCL neither paid the dues nor gave a satisfactory explanation. The notice warns that if payment or justification is not submitted within 15 days, the Council will initiate action under The Goa Public Premises (Eviction of Unauthorised Occupants) Act, 1988. The dues of 8,50,37,829 are linked to IOCL's Vasco Terminal lease, which could face eviction proceedings if unresolved.
