MARGAO, April 18 -- The panels contesting the upcoming Margao Municipal Council (MMC) elections have in their manifestoes accorded top priority to three issues namely clearing the Sonsoddo dump, proper garbage management and converting Margao into a tourist attraction.
The BJP-floated Vibrant Margao has promised to prepare a plan to clean Sonsoddo by 2022 and clear the dump completely by 2024. At present though MMC is collecting segregated waste from households, the panel has promised to have the collection well organised if it (panel) comes to power.
Promising to clear Sonsoddo, Vijai Sardesai's Fatorda Forward has accused the BJP government of seeking to politicise Sonsoddo by not clearing it despite the Council having paid Rs 42 crore....
