Goa, June 5 -- In a decisive move to tackle growing traffic congestion and severe public parking shortages, the Mapusa Traffic Cell has rolled out a new directive targeting rent-a-car and rent-a-bike businesses across the town. With immediate effect, all rental vehicles must be parked strictly within designated parking zones. Violators will face heavy penalties, including fines and potential suspension of operating licenses.

This crackdown comes in response to a spike in complaints from both locals and tourists struggling to find parking, particularly in busy central areas. Authorities say that commercial rental vehicles occupying public parking spaces have been a key factor in worsening traffic snarls, especially during peak hours.
