Goa, Nov. 13 -- The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Sattari, has convicted Vishal Govind Zarmekar for committing theft at Shree Brahmadev Devasthan, located at Brahmakarmali, Valpoi.
The court sentenced the accused to one year of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs.500.
The conviction follows an investigation into the temple theft, during which evidence presented before the court established Zarmekar's involvement in the crime.
Authorities said the judgment serves as a reminder of the legal consequences of offences involving theft from places of worship, which often hold deep cultural and religious significance for local communities.
