Goa, July 6 -- The Valpoi police on Saturday arrested Yogesh Subhash Rane, 27, of Sankhali, for assaulting and grievously injuring Aniket Singbal, also from Sankhali, with a sharp weapon during a late-night altercation at Poriem.

Singbal sustained serious head injuries and was admitted to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Sankhali for treatment. The altercation reportedly erupted over a dispute regarding a parked vehicle outside a restaurant.

The incident occurred at around 2.20 a.m. on Saturday. Upon receiving the information, Bicholim PI Vijay Rane, who also holds additional charge of Valpoi Police Station and was on night patrol in the Bicholim and Sankhali areas, rushed to the scene with his team.
