Goa, May 31 -- A major fire broke out aboard a passenger cruise boat anchored at the Betim jetty on Friday, triggering panic as the vessel's anchor snapped, causing it to drift dangerously close to offshore casino ships.

The swift intervention of a Captain of Ports (CoP) tugboat helped avert a potential disaster. The tugboat managed to steer the burning cruise vessel away from the high-risk casino zone, preventing any escalation of the incident.

Fire and Emergency Services (FES) teams rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and authorities are currently assessing the extent of the damage.
