Goa, Nov. 28 -- Maharashtra authorities have seized two Goan fishing trawlers for operating in the state's waters with banned LED fishing equipment, officials said on Thursday. The action was taken for violating Maharashtra's maritime jurisdiction and using prohibited fishing gear, which is illegal under local regulations.
Sources have revealed that one of the trawlers reportedly belongs to a Goa BJP MLA. The incident has sparked concerns over illegal fishing practices and inter-state jurisdiction violations, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of maritime laws.
Authorities are investigating further to ensure compliance and prevent the use of prohibited LED equipment, which is known to pose a threat to marine life.
