Goa, Dec. 29 -- IPL founder Lalit Modi on Monday apologised for referring to himself and Vijay Mallya as the "two biggest fugitives" of India in a now-deleted video from Mallya's 70th birthday celebration in London. In an apology posted on X, Modi said his remarks were "misconstrued" and not intended in the manner they were portrayed. He expressed regret if his comments had hurt anyone's sentiments, particularly the Indian government, for which he said he holds the highest respect. The apology came days after the Indian government reiterated its commitment to bringing back economic offenders who fled the country. Both Modi and Mallya face legal proceedings in India over alleged financial irregularities, charges they have denied.
