Goa, Aug. 29 -- Renowned Konkani singer, composer, and cultural activist Eric Ozario passed away in Mangalore on Friday afternoon. He was 75.

Born on May 18, 1949, in Jeppu, Mangalore, Ozario emerged as one of the most influential figures in promoting and preserving Konkani art, music, and literature. A gifted singer and composer, he used his creative talent to strengthen the identity of the Konkani-speaking community.

He was the founder of Mandd Sobhann, a leading cultural organisation dedicated to the preservation and growth of Konkani culture. Under his leadership, Mandd Sobhann gained prominence for organising events, performances, and initiatives that gave global recognition to Konkani music and traditions.
