Goa, Aug. 28 -- The Mapusa JMFC court has convicted a Kerala native for drink-and-drive offences, imposing a fine of Rs 10,000, with a default penalty of 10 days' simple imprisonment.
Police had stopped the accused after detecting the smell of alcohol while he was driving. A breathalyzer test confirmed a blood alcohol level of 119.1 mg/100 ml. The driver was also found not wearing a seatbelt.
An offence was registered under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. During the hearing, the accused pleaded guilty after charges were framed. The court then delivered the conviction and imposed the fine.
