Goa, March 13 -- On Wednesday, the Karnataka government reversed its decision to have the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) look into possible negligence and shortcomings by police officers at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru, in connection with the gold smuggling case involving Kannada actor Ranya Rao. This investigation had been launched on Monday night.
The new order to halt the CID inquiry mentioned that Additional Chief Secretary Gaurav Gupta is already investigating the potential involvement of Ranya's stepfather, K Ramachandra Rao, who is a DGP and currently serves as the Managing Director of the Karnataka State Police Housing and Infrastructure Development Corporation.
