Goa, Nov. 2 -- Former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson has announced his retirement from Twenty20 internationals, marking the end of a remarkable chapter in his career. The 35-year-old, who debuted in 2011 against Zimbabwe, represented the Black Caps in 93 matches, leading the team in 75 of them. Under his leadership, New Zealand reached the T20 World Cup final in 2021 and the semi-finals in 2016 and 2022. Williamson, who scored 2,575 runs with 18 fifties, said it was the right time to step aside and allow new talent to emerge. He will continue to play Test cricket, including the upcoming series against West Indies, and remains open about his ODI future.
