Goa, July 14 -- The Bicholim police have arrested a 24-year-old man from Jamtara, Jharkhand, in connection with an online fraud case involving a Sankhali-based woman who was allegedly duped of Rs.44,340.
The accused, identified as Pradeep Mandal, reportedly posed as a customer service representative offering to assist the 40-year-old woman with a Tata Sky recharge pack. Under the guise of helping her activate a DTH service, he convinced her to share sensitive banking information.
Using the details provided, Mandal allegedly carried out a fraudulent transaction, siphoning off Rs.44,340 from the victim's bank account.
Police said the arrest follows an investigation based on the woman's complaint. Further inquiry is underway to determine ...
