Goa, May 7 -- In a significant escalation of hostilities between India and Pakistan, Indian forces have reportedly shot down a Pakistani JF-17 fighter jet over Akhnoor in Jammu and Kashmir. The aircraft is believed to have crashed in Raja Chak village near Sungal, sparking heightened tensions across the Line of Control (LoC).

The incident occurred as part of Operation Sindoor, India's ongoing military response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The operation has targeted nine major terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), aimed at dismantling infrastructure used by terror groups such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
