Goa, Nov. 8 -- At the COP30 Leaders' Summit in Belem, Brazil, India made a powerful appeal for climate justice, demanding equitable global action rooted in the principle of Common but Differentiated Responsibilities. Ambassador Dinesh Bhatia urged developed nations to cut emissions faster and fulfil their financial pledges to developing countries. India highlighted its early achievement of revised climate targets, with non-fossil fuel sources now accounting for over 50% of power capacity and emission intensity reduced by 36%.
