Goa, June 13 -- Illegal sand mining activities in Querim village, under the jurisdiction of Mardol Police, came to light after a truck suspected of transporting the illegally extracted sand got stuck on a road at Karmale.

The incident drew public attention and prompted local authorities to initiate a probe into the unauthorized sand transportation. The police are currently verifying the source of the sand and identifying those involved in the operation.

This case adds to growing concerns over unchecked sand mining, which poses serious threats to the environment and river ecosystems in the region. Further investigation is underway.
