Goa, Jan. 5 -- Authorities have detected an alleged case of illegal laterite stone extraction at Cotarli village in Sanguem taluka. Unknown individuals are suspected to have quarried and transported the stones without obtaining the necessary permissions from the Directorate of Mines and Geology.Preliminary estimates indicate that the activity may have caused a loss of around Rs.20 lakh to the state exchequer. A formal complaint has been lodged, and an investigation is underway to identify those involved and assess the full extent of the illegal mining.
