Goa, Nov. 13 -- The Indian Air Force (IAF) has operationalised the Mudh-Nyoma airbase in eastern Ladakh, significantly boosting India's air defence and rapid deployment capabilities along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari (or Singh, as per official release) inaugurated the newly developed airbase, accompanied by Western Air Command chief Air Marshal Jeetendra Mishra, officials said.

The Rs.218-crore project, executed by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), was launched to establish an advanced airfield capable of handling fighter jets, helicopters, and transport aircraft. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh had laid the foundation stone for the project in September 2023.
