Goa, Dec. 5 -- As the sun set over the serene waters of the Mandovi River, Goans gathered in solemn remembrance of one of the state's darkest maritime tragedies, the capsising of the motorised launch 'Goa' on December 3, 1901. The commemoration, held near the Betim ferry jetty and Panjim ferry Jetty brought together residents, students and historians for a heartfelt litany in memory of the 81 souls lost in the disaster. Following prayers, attendees crossed the ferry to Panjim, where the litany continued at the Memorial Cross, as a moving act of unity, faith and remembrance.
