Goa, Dec. 6 -- In a significant development, Contempt Petition 6/2021 addressing the issue of illegal sand mining in Goa underwent a crucial hearing today. The High Court bench expressed severe dissatisfaction and rebuked the government machinery, with particular emphasis on the Police department, for its failure to effectively combat illegal sand mining across various regions in Goa.

The criticism reached a point where there was a contemplation of summoning the Director General of Police (DGP) for Goa to appear before the High Court immediately.
