Goa, May 19 -- Serious health and safety concerns have emerged at the ongoing Purumetache Fest in Sanguem, where ice blocks used in popular refreshments like gola and lemon soda are reportedly being stored and transported under unhygienic conditions.
Eyewitnesses report that the ice is being kept on dirty surfaces and left exposed to contaminants, raising alarm as these ice-based treats are particularly popular among children and families attending the festival.
Despite the growing crowds, there appears to be no visible inspection or oversight by health and food safety authorities, leaving vendors free to use potentially unsafe materials in their products.
