India, Jan. 14 -- The High Court has issued notices in connection with a petition alleging irregularities in the Public Works Department (PWD), including the illegal promotion of an individual to the post of Engineering Officer without adhering to prescribed recruitment rules.

Taking cognisance of the plea, the court has sought a response from the authorities on the alleged violation of service and recruitment norms in granting the promotion.

The High Court has also issued a separate notice regarding the extension of service granted to the PWD Principal Chief Engineer, calling for an explanation on the legality and procedure followed in granting the extension.
