Goa, July 22 -- The Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB) has issued a show-cause notice to a gold workshop in Mapusa for operating without obtaining the mandatory "Consent to Operate" under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974.
In the notice dated June 30, the Board directed the workshop to respond within seven days, warning that failure to do so may result in closure proceedings. This action comes despite earlier directions issued in May, which the unit allegedly ignored by neither securing the required clearance nor replying to the Board's communication.
