GSM wants grants to English medium schools to be cancelled immediately

Vasco, July 31 -- Goa Suraksha Manch's (GSM) Mormugao block welcomed the Centre's new National Education Policy (NEP).

They have demanded that the grants to the English medium schools be cancelled immediately on the grounds that now the Centre has also come forward to encourage primary schools to have the local language as the Medium of Instruction (MoI). They said they will place this demand before the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

GSM Youth President, Nitin Faldesai recalled that 'in 2011 the Congress government led by then CM Digambar Kamat gave grants to around 135 primary schools operating on English medium , some of which were run by religious society.
