Goa, May 24 -- In a move aimed at striking a balance between environmental conservation and human development, the Goa government has directed the Forest Department to identify remote hamlets and human settlements located within protected areas, including wildlife sanctuaries and national parks-that are deprived of basic infrastructure such as electricity, roads, and water supply.

The directive was issued following deliberations at the recent State Board of Wildlife meeting, where the need for an inclusive and sustainable approach to forest governance was emphasized.
