Chess veteran Ivor Trevenian stated that returning to Goa after more than two decades brought back memories, even though much of the place has transformed since his last visit. Speaking after his match on Monday, Trevenian said he first visited Goa 23 years ago, when he stayed in what he described as "a broken-down hotel in Panjim." "Now it's part of the Taj chain," he said with amusement. "Things have changed, of course. Many things are very interesting here. But I'm happy about one thing - the spirit of Goa is still here because there are no high-risers. And I like it." Reflecting on his loss in the tournament, Trevenian offered a candid explanation.
