Goa, Dec. 2 -- The official residences of state Governors, traditionally known as Raj Bhavans, are being renamed as Lok Bhavans in line with the Centre's emphasis on enhancing public-oriented governance. Several states, including Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Tripura, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu, have already implemented the change.
Governors in these states announced the renaming through social media posts, reflecting a coordinated nationwide transition. The move follows a Ministry of Home Affairs notification issued on November 25, 2025, directing that Raj Bhavans and Raj Niwas across the country be redesignated as Lok Bhavans and Lok Niwas, respectively.
