CANACONA, April 22 -- With just little over a day left for the polling for the Lok Sabha elections begins in Goa, the government machinery is on its toes working overtime in Canacona in preparation of peaceful polling process before and during the elections.
Since the election commission announced model code of conduct on March 10, Canacona police have till now seized liquor either stored or transported illegally in the jurisdiction of Canacona taluka in 12 raids worth Rs 28 lakh.
A total of 25 matka agents were booked under Gambling Act during the same period while in a narcotic raid one alleged drug peddler was arrested for possessing narcotic substances.
