Goa, Nov. 21 -- A tense atmosphere prevailed outside the Mapusa Police Station as several local goldsmiths gathered in solidarity with two colleagues detained by the Andhra Pradesh Police. The detainees are accused of purchasing 150 grams of gold each from alleged thieves who had travelled to Goa to sell stolen ornaments.
Protesters claimed that when the investigating team from Andhra Pradesh arrived, they did not present an arrest warrant or offer satisfactory explanations for the arrests.
