During the National Road Safety Month observed in January, GOACAN launched a comprehensive drive to remove dangerous roadside encroachments along National Highway 66.
The organisation first intervened at the location opposite the IOC petrol pump in Cuncolim, where chairs, stools, and various merchandise items were blocking the road shoulders, creating significant hazards for commuters.
At Cuncolim, the encroachments were found to be loaded onto a vehicle registered in Madhya Pradesh, originating from Ponda. Following the initial clearance, GOACAN extended its drive to Sirlim, where they removed chairs, stools, barrels, and other obstructions, posing serious risks to road users.
