Goa, June 27 -- Goa Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho has clarified that the decision to implement taxi meters in the state was made before he took charge of the department.
Responding to criticism over the rollout of digital meters in taxis, Godinho explained that the installation was carried out in compliance with court directives after the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG) moved the court seeking regulation.
"The decision regarding taxi meters was already in place before I became Transport Minister," Godinho said, adding that the Transport Department only acted to fulfill the legal mandate.
