Goa, July 23 -- In a major step toward strengthening coastal security and regulating fishing activities, Goa is set to introduce drone-based aerial surveillance along its coastline. The initiative aims to detect, monitor, and identify illegal or unauthorized fishing vessels operating in Goan waters.
Fisheries Minister Nilkanth Halarnkar confirmed the development, stating that a successful trial run has already been conducted. "We are collaborating with an agency that has experience in similar operations in Maharashtra. The use of drone technology will enhance our ability to monitor the coastline more effectively," he said.
