Goa, Aug. 13 -- Civil courts across Goa received a total of 2,954 marriage and divorce-related petitions between January 2022 and June 2025, with Salcete taluka alone accounting for nearly a third of the cases, official data shows.
Law and Judiciary Minister Aleixo Sequeira shared that Salcete led the list with 994 petitions, followed by Bardez with 692 and Tiswadi with 347.
As of June this year, 2,237 matrimonial cases, including matters of child custody, domestic violence, and maintenance, remain pending across the talukas. Bardez tops the list with 696 pending cases, followed by Tiswadi (430) and Salcete (330).
