Goa, June 6 -- The Goa government has formally appealed to the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to cancel or defer the transfer order of IAS officer Prasad Lolayekar, currently serving as Education Secretary. Citing the critical need for leadership continuity during the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the state has emphasized that Lolayekar's continued presence is essential to steer key reforms underway.

Lolayekar was transferred to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands in September 2024 as part of a routine AGMUT cadre reshuffle, with instructions to join his new post within 15 days.
