Goa, June 17 -- Road contractors from across Goa came together today to raise serious concerns regarding the state's road tendering process. Addressing a press conference, the contractors urged the government to disqualify bids quoted below 20% of the estimated project cost, arguing that such practices lead to poor-quality infrastructure and sideline local contractors.
According to the contractors, aggressively low bids often come from firms outside Goa that lack long-term accountability and compromise on quality. "These out-of-state contractors win tenders by underquoting and then deliver substandard work that deteriorates rapidly, costing the public more in the long run," said a spokesperson for the group.
