Goa, Jan. 19 -- Goa recorded 780 cases of matka and online gambling in 2024, the highest in the last five years, official data showed. The figure marks a sharp rise compared to 2023, when 670 cases were registered. In 2022, authorities booked 662 cases, while 688 cases were recorded in 2021. In 2020, the number stood lower than current levels. The cases include matka, online gambling, mini casinos, and lala kala pila activities across North and South Goa, highlighting growing concerns over illegal betting networks operating in the state.
