Goa, Aug. 24 -- Verna police arrested 37-year-old Antu Roy from Lakhipur, Assam, in a cheating and obscenity case filed in December 2024 by a 40-year-old woman from Cortalim. She alleged Roy had sexual relations with her since 2015 on the promise of marriage, later refusing to marry her, and circulated obscene material electronically. Roy was absconding despite repeated notices. A police team traced and arrested him on August 22 with help from Lakhipur Police. He was brought to Goa on transit remand and formally arrested on August 23. The case is being investigated under PI Anand Shirodkar, supervised by senior police officials.
