Thakar, who had posed as a high-ranking official, met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant earlier this year before making the donation to the Goa Police Department. The laptops were intended to aid police operations, but following his arrest and exposure in the cheating scam, authorities moved quickly to reject the tainted gift.
