The Mandrem police arrested two persons for allegedly posing as 'godmen' and duping a woman of gold ornaments worth Rs 8.5 lakh under the pretext of performing special rituals for peace and prosperity.
The accused identified as Vijay Shinde and Dada Ingole, both from Solapur, Maharashtra along with another unidentified person, visited the complainant Amita Naik's house at Chonsdaiwadda-Parsem in Pernem taluka, on February 11. Disguised as religious figures, they convinced and induced her to hand over her gold ornaments but later fled with them.
The police arrested the two accused and recovered all the stolen ornaments from them. The police are investigating to find out if the accused are involved in any ...
