Goa, Jan. 25 -- Kolhapur Excise officials recently raided the Patradevi checkpoint to investigate an alleged inter-state alcohol racket worth several crores. During the operation, a large consignment of Goa-brewed foreign liquor, valued at 1.5 crore, was seized from Anuskura village in Sahuwadi taluka. Locals from Goa alleged that checkpoint officials were complicit, allowing trucks carrying the liquor to pass unchecked. Preliminary investigations suggest the consignment was being transported to Gujarat via Maharashtra. The incident has raised concerns over corruption and the involvement of officials in facilitating such illegal operations, highlighting the need for stricter monitoring and enforcement along state borders.
