Goa, July 26 -- Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Friday said the State government will consider increasing the support price for paddy after consulting with the Agriculture Department and local farmers. He also revealed plans to set up a rice mill in Goa to process locally cultivated rice within the state.
Speaking on the issue of agricultural support and self-sufficiency, the Chief Minister highlighted that the government had already raised the paddy support price from Rs.22 to Rs.26 per kilogram in the past. "We are open to further increasing the support price, but it will be done after taking both the department and farmers into confidence," he said.
