India, Feb. 6 -- The Goa Human Rights Commission (GHRC) has recommended to the Director of Health Services (DHS) to establish a round-the-clock healthcare service on Chorao Island within a period of 90 days, in view of the difficulties faced by residents in accessing timely medical assistance.
The Commission observed that the absence of a 24 7 healthcare facility on the island poses serious risks, particularly during medical emergencies, when patients have to depend on ferry services or travel long distances to reach hospitals on the mainland.
