Goa, Sept. 18 -- The Goa Green Brigade met PWD Minister Digambar Kamat today to submit a plea aimed at saving the 100-plus-year-old heritage banyan tree located on Airport Road, Dabolim.

The environmental group also urged the minister to initiate a comprehensive policy for the preservation of Goa's roadside trees and to ensure that tree protection becomes a mandatory component in PWD contracts.

Activists emphasized the ecological and cultural significance of heritage trees and called for proactive measures to safeguard Goa's greenery amid ongoing infrastructure development.
