Goa, Jan. 13 -- The Goa government is planning to introduce Sports Excellence Centres or sports schools from the next academic year to ensure the effective utilisation of sports coaches throughout the year, Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar said.
Addressing the issue of underutilisation of coaches during the monsoon season, the minister stated that the state currently has around 110 coaches who receive salaries but are unable to function optimally due to limited outdoor activity during the rains. "During the monsoon, we cannot make much use of them. Their utilisation is not done the way it is supposed to be," Tawadkar said.
