Goa, Dec. 8 -- The Goa government has issued an official order constituting a four-member Magisterial Inquiry Committee to investigate the Birch by Romeo Lane fire tragedy in Arpora, which claimed multiple lives and raised serious concerns over safety compliance.
The committee will be headed by North Goa Collector Ankita Yadav, IAS, and includes South Goa SP Tikam Singh Verma, IPS, Director of Forensic Sciences Ashutosh Apte, and Deputy Director, Fire & Emergency Services, Rajendra A. Haldankar.
According to the order, the panel has been tasked with examining the complete sequence of events leading to the fire, scrutinising statutory licences, identifying lapses, and fixing accountability on responsible agencies or departments. The comm...
