Goa, Dec. 12 -- The Goa government has invoked the Essential Services Maintenance Act (ESMA), effectively prohibiting all forms of strikes across pharmaceutical manufacturing, packaging, distribution, and transport units in the state. The order takes immediate effect and will remain in force for six months starting December 17, 2025.
Officials said the decision was taken to ensure uninterrupted functioning of the state's pharmaceutical sector, which plays a crucial role in medicine production and supply. The directive aims to prevent any disruptions that could impact public health and essential drug availability.
