Goa, Dec. 5 -- The Goa government has cleared a proposal to provide free insurance coverage to every worker engaged in coconut-related activities from the 2025-26 financial year. At present, coconut pluckers contribute Rs.143 as their 15% share of the Rs.956 annual premium under the Kera Suraksha Insurance Scheme, with the Coconut Development Board paying the balance. Officials have appealed to traditional pluckers to enrol, noting that the current participation rate is low.
