India, Nov. 27 -- Goa has implemented a significant reform under the Jan Vishwas initiative, converting provisions in 28 state Acts from imprisonment-based penalties to monetary fines.
Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant announced that the move aligns with India's broader decriminalisation strategy, aimed at reducing unnecessary criminal prosecution and easing compliance for citizens and businesses.
Sawant noted that the state is committed to fostering a more efficient and people-friendly governance system by removing outdated punitive measures and promoting a rationalised legal framework. Further details on the revised Acts and penalty structures are expected to be notified shortly
