Goa, July 9 -- In a significant administrative move, the Goa Cabinet has approved the establishment of a dedicated Department of Inland Waterways, aimed at streamlining the management and development of the state's riverine transport network.
Until now, matters related to river navigation were handled by the Captain of Ports through the River Navigation Department (RND). The creation of a separate department marks a shift toward a more focused and structured approach to harnessing Goa's vast inland waterways for transport, tourism, and trade.
